On June 2nd FBCS organized a time management seminar mainly aimed at professionals (both local and foreign) working for it's member companies. 50-some guests participated in the traning led by Ms. Veronique Havrehed at Radisson Hotel in downtown Shanghai.

The Finnish Young Professionals gathered together at Aalto Tongji Design Factory in Tongji University last Saturday, May 14th. Altogether 30 young(ish) people found their way there to listen to our guest speaker Mr. Guillaume de Roquefeuil and to mingle with others.

Mr. Roquefeuil kept his presentation about the topic of Leaving Corporate world, either it is a good opportunity or not and he told his experiences of launching a business in China.

The Finnish Business Council Shanghai co-organized a China-Finland Visa Update with the Consulate General in Shanghai in May 5th at the Residence of Consul General of Finland in Shanghai.

Mr. Ying Lei and Mr. Cai Baodi from Foreign Affairs Division at the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau, Exit-Entry Administration spoke on behalf of Chinese Visa procedures and Mrs. Eili Andersson from Finnish Consulate General in Shanghai spoke on behalf of Finnish Visa procedures.

Finnish Young Professionals @ The Apartment

The Finnisgh Young Professionals met once again each other at The Apartment – lounge, Friday, April 22nd. This time a little bit less people participated the event than usually, but it didn't make the event any less fun! Mr. Jack Ilmonen, a member of FBCS came to speak about his life experiences and especially experiences in China; how to live a life to make it satisfying. Everyone should live their life without any regret and instead of trying, you should do things that are your goals. It was a good and supportive speech and after the speech many young professionals had plenty of questions which Jack was happy to answer. The evening continued with mingling each other.

The Annual General Meeting of the Finnish Business Council Shanghai was held on Thursday, March 31st 2011 in the residence of the Consul General for Finland in Shanghai.

Among other things a board for the 2011-2012 was elected.

Finnish Young Professionals held its second get-together event at Aalto-Tongji Design Factory,  Sino-Finnish Centre, Tongji University on Saturday  19. March.

The event started around 7 pm and ended a little bit after mid-night. Over 35 people gathered around to listen the surprise guest speaker who turned out to be Mr. Pekka Kumpula, who is working on a project in Shanghai and he came to talk about his project and his experiences while staying here.

InterChamber Spring Mixer

Members from 18 different Chambers of Commerce were invited to Inter-Chamber Mixer event on Wednesday evening, 16 March at Fairmont Peace Hotel, Shanghai. It was co-organised by British Chamber of Commerce and American Chamber of Commerce. There was estimated over 100 people at the event and about 15 of them members from FBCS. The event cost each member 160 RMB which included 2 drinks and canapés. The canapés were delicious, a bit fusion-like and drinks were white-&red wine and some juice. The purpose of the Inter-Chamber Mixer was people getting know to each other from different chambers, mingle and perhaps getting new cliants. The event was very successful and everyone enjoyed it.
