The Annual General Meeting of the Finnish Business Council Shanghai was held on April 1st . The Consul General for Finland in Shanghai, Mr. Matti Heimonen, kindly offered his residence as the venue. Please find below a short summary of the proceedings.
During the meeting the secretary of the board, Mr. Oskar Helling, presented a summary report of activities for the 2009-2010 term. Please see this PDF file.
The treasurer, Mrs. Liisa Veijalainen, presented the financial report. The FBCS result for the previous term was RMB 26.230,30 negative, roughly halving accumulated cash reserves. The principal reasons for this result are a dramatically increased activity level together with the lack of any kind of membership fee or other relevant income.
The Annual General Meeting approved the Boards proposal to instate membership fees for FBCS members. The fees are set to RMB 2.000 for corporate members, and RMB 500 for individual members. Please see this page for more information.
The meeting approved the proposal for the new board, namely:
Mr. Jaakko Eskola, Wärtsilä
Mr. Oskar Helling
Mr. Markku Hyvärinen, Shüeco
Mr. Tomas Forsgård, Kemira
Mr. Tero Kosonen, MPS China
Mr. Pertti Salminen, UPM Kymmene
Mr. Jukka Silander, Technion
Mr. Wangqiu Song, Stora Enso
Mr. Nalle Stenman, Metso Paper
Mrs. Liisa Veijalainen, Handelsbanken
Ms. Minna Vilkuna, Cargotec
The new board convened immediately after the AGM to organize itself. Mr. Kosonen was elected chairman, Mr. Stenman was elected Vice-Chairman, Mrs. Veijalainen was elected Treasurer, and Mr. Helling was elected Secretary.
The activity plan for the 2010-11 term is under construction and details of upcoming events will be published as soon as they are confirmed.
